A shocking video has emerged showing the reckless behaviour of boaters on the River Murray in South Australia, on the same day a swimmer was struck by an allegedly drunk boat driver.

The video, obtained by 9News, shows a man riding the front of a boat at high speed, before falling in the water and the boat going over the top.

In a separate incident, a 20-year-old woman from Mannum was seriously injured after being struck by a speed boat while swimming with family and friends near her family's shack at Port Mannum.

That incident has prompted calls for a stronger police presence on the water.

The swimmer was flown to hospital in Adelaide.

According to witnesses, the boat was allegedly speeding and driving recklessly against the flow of other vessels on the water.

The driver of the boat, a 43-year-old woman from West Lakes Shore, was arrested and charged with several offences, including causing harm by the dangerous use of a vessel. 

She is currently in custody and will appear in court in Murray Bridge on Tuesday.
