Reporter’s disastrous on-air gaffe over missing boy

A US reporter is facing calls to resign after she was caught on-air saying she was "so over it" during a search for a missing child.

Sharifa Jackson, a TV reporter for a Fox affiliate, had her remarks accidentally broadcast ahead of the 7pm news.

With the screen blank, Jackson can be heard saying, "I'm so over this".

"I don't know," she says.

"I don't think they're going to find him."

Four-year-old Beau Rabon is presumed drowned after he fell into the Chattahoochee River last week while on a fishing trip with his father Ryan.

Mr Rabon jumped in after Beau in an attempt to save him, but drowned himself.

His body was recovered five days later.

Jackson's comments have been interpreted as callous by some people online, with calls for her to resign or be stood down.

Beau's mother, Allison, posted on Facebook that she thought some reporters were "vultures".
