Snake found lying in wait under Sunshine Coast urinal
A Sunshine Coast snake catcher has dismissed a snake discovered lurking beneath a pub urinal as “harmless” – a sentiment not likely shared by the patron who discovered it.
A video of “Richie” fetching the Common Tree Snake from beneath a urinal at the Waterfront Hotel in Maroochydore was shared to the Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 page yesterday.
It has since been viewed more than 27,820 times.
The video shows the snake catcher blithely reaching under the trough to scoop the snake up from atop the plumbing, before depositing it into a snake net.
“The snake was quite concealed so anyone could have gone for a number one and not even noticed it,” the video caption reads.
“Luckily it was a harmless Common Tree Snake and not something venomous.
“It was quite hot outside so I suspect it was after somewhere cool to escape the heat of the day.
“Cool tiled bathrooms and toilets provide the perfect place for snakes to do this so it's a good idea to keep your doors closed and have screens where possible in Queensland.”
