Snake found in Queenslanders' living room cupboard

The residents of a Sunshine Coast home had to call in the professionals after spotting an unwelcome intruder in their home.

Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers posted a video to their Facebook page, showing the retrieval of a red-bellied black snake from a living room cupboard.

"The residents of this Twin Waters home were lucky they spotted the tail of a snake moving into the cupboard after leaving the sliding doors open to the house for some airflow," snake catcher Stu said.

"This gorgeous red-bellied black snake was tucked away under all the bags keeping cool from the hot day."

Stu said the red-bellies were his favourite snakes to catch, due to their striking appearance.

He warned people to be on the lookout at home as the cooler months continued.

"Still a few snakes on the move looking for water, food and shelter," he said.

"Make sure there's no way for snakes to enter your homes, as during winter when the temperatures cool down, snakes will be looking for a warm place to go."
