Sinead O'Connor found safe after distressing Facebook post references 'overdose'

Irish singer Sinead O’Connor has been found safe and well after a post on her official Facebook page sparked serious concerns for her welfare.

In the lengthy message, posted at 4am (AEDT), O’Connor appeared to say she had “taken an overdose” and “everyone is better off”.

The post went on to say she was in a hotel in Ireland and “the last two nights finished me off”.

Authorities in Dublin have confirmed O’Connor has been found safe and well and is receiving medical treatment, the UK Telegraph reports.

The post went on to reference her family and the hysterectomy she underwent in August of this year.

“There is only so much any woman can be expected to bear,” the post read.

It has received thousands of comments from concerned fans.

O’Connor revealed in 2007 she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

The household name shot to fame in 1990 with her hit Nothing Compares 2 U.
