Aussie woman found dead on yacht in Greek Islands 'on final day of job'

The young Australian woman who died mysteriously onboard a super yacht in the Greek Islands was on the final day of her job as part of the yacht’s crew.

Sinead McNamara, 20, had all but completed a four-month stint working aboard the Mayan Queen IV on Friday, when her body was found on the back of the yacht.

Greek authorities and media have claimed Ms McNamara took her own life.

Adding to the mystery surrounding her death, Ms McNamara’s mother and sister were on their way to Greece to meet her for a holiday.

The Mayan Queen IV was docked in Argostoli port while authorities examined the scene, it left port last night with the crew on board.

The Harbour Master is expected to give an update on the investigation in the next few hours.

The lavish $200 million super yacht is owned by billionaire businessman Alberto Baillères, who left the boat 48 hours before Ms McNamara's body was found.

She remained onboard with other members of the crew. In the early hours of Friday morning, a man on a passing yacht spotted her lifeless body on the back of the Mayan Queen IV.

What happened during that 48 hours is now at the centre of this investigation, as authorities work to establish who was onboard with Ms McNamara at the time, what were her movements, and what led to her mysterious death.

These are questions her family want answered. An autopsy will also be carried out in the coming days.

Ms McNamara’s Instagram account portrays a beautiful young woman living a happy, idyllic lifestyle traveling Europe, sunbaking and jet-skiing and sightseeing.

Her story is a tragic reminder that social media rarely tells the full story.
