Man taken into custody after Maryborough siege

A man has been taken into custody after allegedly sparking a siege in the Queensland town of Maryborough this afternoon.

About 12.30pm a police officer went to a home on May Street, when he was confronted by a man believed to be armed.

The officer called for assistance and the road was cordoned off, with negotiators brought in to try to resolve the standoff.

It is understood the standoff was over a neighbourhood disputer.

A 54-year-old man was taken into custody around 4.10pm, and is speaking to officers.
