Police arrest man after alleged armed stand-off in Melbourne home while children slept

A man is in police custody after a tense stand-off in Melbourne's west.

Police were called to a dispute at a home in Hoppers Crossing at 12.30am this morning with reports a man inside had a gun.

Police began negotiations with the man, before a woman walked outside the house on her on accord three hours later.

There were a number of children asleep inside the home at the time.

The 50-year-old man has been arrested.
