Head-on impact on winding road caught on camera

A driver has captured the terrifying moment that he smashed head-on into a four-wheel drive travelling the wrong way on a winding road in regional Queensland.

The dashcam footage was uploaded to the Facebook group Dash Cam Owners Australia, with the owner of the group crediting it to Peter Triffit.

"Driving to work this morning," the caption on the video reads. "On time, taking it easy."

"I am still saying to myself 'WTF'.

"The P-plater driving the other car got three demerit points and a $270 fine. I've lost my ute."

The Townsville Bulletin reports that a head-on crash on Mt Spec Road near Paluma on July 24 – the date on the dashcam timestamp – resulted in a P-plater being fined.

Both drivers were uninjured.
