Bullet rips through chocolate stand as thugs storm Sydney service station

A cashier at a service station in Sydney's southwest narrowly avoided a bullet this morning after two armed men stormed a service station.

At about 1.30am, the men entered the store on Stacey Street in Bankstown wearing hoodies and dark clothing.

One man appeared to be armed with a shotgun and the other with a pistol.

"The one with the gun just pointed it at the back and he shot at me," the cashier told 9NEWS.

The bullet missed the cashier and ripped through a chocolate stand.

"He asked me to come to the register and to give them the money and so I did," the cashier said.

"I asked them, don't shoot again, I'll give you the money."

The pair fled the premises after obtaining a small amount of cash.

The employee was not hurt and police are now investigating the incident.
