Shorten denies super policy hurts women

Federal Labor leader Bill Shorten has rejected suggestions highly-paid women will be disadvantaged by his party's new superannuation policy.

Labor says in government it will lower the threshold for the 30 per cent high income superannuation charge from $300,000 to $250,000.

When asked whether the measure would unfairly impact women who worked for short periods, Mr Shorten told reporters in Canberra: "I suspect that the vast bulk of people who are affected in this very small group are men."
