The Roosters released a statement saying they were aware of the incident involving Kenny-Dowall, had begun an investigation into the matter and informed the NRL Integrity Unit.

Kenny-Dowall, who has been linked to an upcoming move to the Newcastle Knights, previously went through a public domestic breakdown with his former girlfriend Jessica Peris during his 2015 season.

He faced domestic violence allegations at the time but was fully acquitted of all charges.

"Kenny-Dowall has been battling a lot of things off the field including depression, now this is the latest challenge for him," 9NEWS NRL reporter Danny Weidler said.
