Sex Party will apply to re-register

The Australian Sex Party will apply to re-register in case the federal government calls an early election.

The party earlier this month vowed to lodge an appeal against an Australian Electoral Commission decision to formally deregister the party at a federal level after it failed to demonstrate it had a minimum of 500 members.

In a statement on Thursday, the party says lodging an appeal and re-registering at the same time could create a new political party, so it will now apply to re-register before looking to continue the appeal.
