State emergency services have issued severe fire danger alerts for coastal areas in Western Australia.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued the alert for Monday 3 March after the Bureau of Meteorology forecast a severe fire danger rating for Gascoyne in north-west WA, which is set for hot, dry and windy weather conditions.

There is also the threat of bushfires in the coastal local government areas of Carnarvon and Shark Bay.

Emergency services have warned people to stay alert, watch for signs of fire and have a bushfire survival plan and kit ready.

Anyone who sees flames is asked to call triple zero.
