A 16-year-old boy has been found safe and well after going missing for three days in Queensland bushland.

"When you consider we've had some cold nights, a few days of rain, exposure certainly does take a toll.”

Around 40 SES volunteers and police were searching bushland in Highvale, Samford, Mount Glorious and Mount Nebo after the teen went missing on Holcombe Road in Highvale on Monday afternoon.

His family has released a statement thanking emergency services for their "outstanding effort."

"Their swiftness, concise co-ordination and swift tactics are what saved our son."

Eric is being assessed by paramedics but is said to be in good health despite suffering from exposure.

He spent three nights in wet and cold conditions, and grave concerns had been held for him.

His family has requested privacy and will not be making further statements.
