Senate inquiry into Aust steel industry
AAP
A Senate committee will investigate the future sustainability of Australia's steel industry.
Labor, the Greens and crossbenchers joined forces to set up the inquiry, which will also look into the country's steel supply chain and other related matters.
It comes a month after the NSW government handed a multi-million-dollar lifeline to Bluescope Steel to keep its Port Kembla steelworks open amid weakening demand and a slump in prices.
