Senate calls for govt ad campaign docs

The Senate has called on the government to release all documents around its $18 million infrastructure advertising campaign.

The motion on Monday calls for the production of correspondence and documents showing how the campaign will be funded after it was flagged in the government's mid-year budget update.

Government frontbencher Scott Ryan said government advertising expenditure had been lower since the coalition was elected and insisted the program would increase knowledge around the need for investment.
