Second man charged over Carly McBride murder

A second man has been charged with the alleged murder of NSW mother-of-two Carly McBride.

The Belmont mother, who was 31, was last seen in September 2014 in Muswellbrook, where she had been visiting her three-year-old daughter at her former partner’s home.

Two years later, her remains were found at a property near Scone following a tip-off to police.

On Monday, police arrested Sayle Newson, 39, who is said to have been in a relationship with Ms McBride in the eight weeks prior to her disappearance.

He was charged in San Remo on the NSW Central Coast with her murder and faced court on Monday afternoon.  

Investigators travelled to Lithgow this morning where they charged an alleged co-offender with the murder.

The 26-year-old man was also charged with unrelated offences related to the destruction of a rental care by fire and weapons matters.

He is expected to face Lithgow Local Court this afternoon.
