Body found in search for missing Gold Coast surfer

Police have found the body of a surfer who failed to resurface after going under a wave at a Gold Coast beach yesterday.
An air, sea and land search was launched after a fisherman at The Spit reported the disappearance to police early yesterday.

Earlier today, police confirmed that the missing surfer was Joshua Dixon, 34, after locating his car in a nearby carpark.
Search and rescue crews found Mr Dixon's body near Crusoe Island about 11am (AEST) today, the Queensland Police Service said in a statement.
The death is being treated as non-suspicious.
