A search will resume at first light for a swimmer who went missing at Station Beach near Cape Otway in southern Victoria.
The 34-year-old Ivanhoe man entered the surf with a friend around 3pm on Sunday, police say.
Both were caught in a rip with one managing to swim to shore while the other was swept further off shore in heavy surf.
