Scripts for codeine decision delayed

The medicines regulator has delayed a decision on whether drugs containing codeine should be prescription-only after being swamped with submissions opposed to the change.

The Therapeutic Goods Association on Thursday said it had received 127 submissions on the proposal, 113 of which were against it.

It says a final decision won't be made before June 2016 with any possible implementation put off to 2017.
