Screwdriver held to worker’s throat during brazen burger store robbery in Sydney’s west

A routine shift at a burger shop in Sydney's west has ended in terror for a young worker after an armed robber pounced on him and held a screwdriver to his throat.

It took the thief less than 40 seconds to carry out the raid at the Killa Burger Grill in Carramar, with the incident captured on CCTV.

Shop owner John Doncevski said the thief made off with around $1000 in cash after attacking the 27-year-old employee at around 9pm.

“He grabbed him by the back of the collar here and put the screwdriver pretty much to his throat,” Mr Doncevski said.

“He's been working here for a little while and he was very shaken up by the event.”

Vision from the stores shows the worker being held up outside the store and forced back inside.

After the offender ransacked the till, the shaken employee locked the door while a colleague hit a panic button.

There were no customers inside the store at the time.

The bandit is still on the run and believed to be aged in his 30s.

The man has been described to police as being of Pacific Islander in appearance, about 190cm tall with a large build and was last seen wearing a black or dark-coloured hoodie with black track pants, white shoes and a white baseball cap.

This is not the first time the Killa Burger Shop had been targeted, with another armed robbery at the store in 2011.
