Girl, 12, charged with attempted murder after 'knife attack' on classmate at Caboolture school

A 12-year-old girl has been charged with attempted murder after a fellow student's neck and hands were allegedly slashed with a knife at a school north of Brisbane.

Police say the attack happened at a Caboolture school just after 9am (AEST) yesterday and left the victim with minor knife wounds to her neck and hands.

A teacher was able to disarm the student after the victim, a girl also aged 12, was injured in a struggle.

Police have not named the school where the attack happened.

The accused girl has been charged with attempted murder and will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

It's the second such crime at a Queensland school in about three weeks.

Last month, a 12-year-old schoolgirl was charged after allegedly stabbing a fellow student in the chest at her Gold Coast high school.

It is alleged she and the victim, a boy aged 13, got into an argument before the stabbing at Coombabah State High School.
