Aussies warned about a new scam email claiming to be from Amazon

Australians have been warned to be on alert as scammers pretend to be from Amazon.

Scamwatch has received reports of emails pretending to be from Amazon and issued a warning about the emails today.

The latest email tells recipients "congratulations, we have tried to reach you for a reward", along with an accompanying photo with the Amazon logo.

"They claim you have won a prize and attempt to steal your personal information," Scamwatch warned.

"It's a scam, so don't click the link and delete the email".

According to Scamwatch, there are several signs you are the recipient of a scam email or text message.

The message may not address you by name, there may be spelling and grammatical mistakes, a website address is incorrect or the website is requesting details the legitimate site does not normally ask for.
