Sarah Palin endorses Donald Trump for US presidency

Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has announced she will endorse Donald Trump for president, according to US media.

“I’m proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for president,” she said in a statement to The New York Times.

It marks the highest-profile endorsement yet for the controversial Republican candidate.

“I am greatly honored to receive Sarah’s endorsement,” Mr Trump was quoted in the Times as saying.

“She is a friend, and a high-quality person whom I have great respect for. I am proud to have her support.”
