The mother of slain schoolgirl Samantha Knight is still haunted by the thought of her daughter's last moments because the man who confessed to killing her 33 years ago refuses to talk about it.

"Did my daughter call out for me or say 'Mummy where are you, I want to go home?'" Tess Knight said in a written statement to the NSW Supreme Court.

Samantha Knight was nine-years-old when she vanished from a Bondi street in 1986.

In 2002, paedophile Michael Guider pleaded guilty to Samantha's manslaughter and was sentenced to 16 years jail.

Guider claimed he fatally drugged Samantha Knight and took pornographic photographs of her.

But he has refused to tell police what he did with her body.

Guider was due to be released from prison earlier this year but the NSW government has applied to the Supreme Court for an extended supervision order to keep him behind bars.

Supporting the application, Tess Knight told the court that 33 years ago almost to the day she waved goodbye to her daughter as she went off to school.

"That's was the last time I saw her," she said, as she wiped away tears, adding: "Everyday, I wake up in a hell."

Ms Knight said Guider continued to drug and photograph other young victims until his eventual arrest.

"We should be astonished at that " she told the court.

Lawyers for the Attorney General Mark Speakman are arguing Guider remains a danger to the public and he should remain in custody for at least another five years
