Samantha Armytage blames UN for Kristin Davis backlash

Sunrise host Samantha Armytage rebukes the United Nations for the recent onslaught of criticism she's received following her Kristin Davis skit.

The host vented her frustration on the Kyle and Jackie O Show this morning saying the UN "inflated it all by making that decision" to drop her as host of a UNHCR fundraiser and Q&A with Davis.

"It wasn't cruel that they dropped me. I was surprised."

Davis who is an advocate for refugee rights criticised Armytage and her co-hosts after being asked to take part in a Sex And The City re-enactment.

Davis took to Twitter following the skit to express her disappointment she had not been given sufficient time to discusses issues surrounding refugees.

Armytage sparked furore following the incident with the public and media criticising her actions on the segment.

ABC presenter Virginia Haussegger wrote a scathing article in the Sydney Morning Herald labelling the Sunrise hosts "bimbos" while supporting the humanitarian work of the former Sex And The City star.

Davis thanked Haussegger for the story.

Armytage lambasted the article during her conversation with Kyle and Jackie O.

"That’s so insulting. There’s a lot of stuff I let go, I’m a public figure and I put myself out there every day, you have to take the hit," she said.

She told News Corp: "My crime? A three-minute television skit that was, admittedly, appallingly acted, but obviously meant as a bit of fun," Armytage said.

"The skit was just one part of a much wider-ranging segment, which discussed the important issue of refugees for several minutes."
