A group of soon to be sacked Toyota workers had a reason to rejoice this week, after learning that they will share a $15 million lotto jackpot.

The generous automotive workers from Toyota's Altona plant in Victoria will even share their win with a lucky worker who had withdrawn from the winning syndicate.

The 16 colleagues that put in for the ticket found out about the win on Wednesday and stand to earn almost $1 million each.

"The group have come to an agreement to share the money with the worker who missed out ... that’s what’s being said anyway," a Toyota employee said.

One of the winners said the group "always play the big Oz Lotto jackpot draws together".

"We're all planning to do things like pay off the mortgage and take a holiday," he said.

The win comes at a good time as the plant will be closing in 2017, leaving about 2500 workers out of a job.
