House fire to blame for SA grass fire

A suspicious house fire is to blame for a grass fire that burnt 30 hectares of land in South Australia's mid north.

The CFS issued a Watch and Act warning for the Hope Gap area, west of Barunga Range as the fire spread towards Koolunga on Saturday afternoon.

A CFS spokeswoman said the occupants of the destroyed house were away at the time of the fire and estimated the damage bill at $100,000.

Crews have since contained the fire.
