Western Australia's Police Commissioner Chris Dawson has been nabbed for speeding, copping a $100 fine.

Mr Dawson was caught doing 59 km/h in a 50 km/h zone in East Perth on September 28 while driving his own car to the national police remembrance day service.

"As commissioner of police, I am very aware of the consequences of speeding and I acknowledge my mistake," he said in a statement on Friday.

"Speeding is a focus of our traffic enforcement effort and this reinforces that no one is immune from being caught."
