Severe bushfire conditions in SA

Severe bushfire conditions have been declared in five South Australian districts ahead of cooling conditions across much of the state.

Adelaide and SA sweltered through a second day of high temperatures on Tuesday but the Bureau of Meteorology says relief is on the way.

A cool change will sweep across much of the state early on Wednesday while the scorching conditions will persist in the far north.

Oodnadatta and Marree are set to cop the worst of the weather with tops of 45C and 44C.

That has prompted the Country Fire Service to declare severe bushfire conditions in the northwest pastoral, northeast pastoral, Flinders, mid north and Riverland districts.

In Adelaide the maximum is forecast to be a more manageable 30C after tops of 39.5C and 37C on Monday and Tuesday.

Some rain has also been forecast.

The hottest spot across SA on Tuesday was Roxby Downs with 44.4C while Marree had 44C and Coober Pedy 44.2C.

There were no major bushfires, with the CFS responding to just a handful of minor incidents.
