SA Parkinson's charity cuts sufferer help

A Parkinson's disease charity in Adelaide will be forced to slash support for sufferers because it's losing donations to prominent causes such as cancer.

Parkinson's SA will close its doors one day a week from July in a bid to cut 20 per cent of its budget, chief executive Christine Belford says.

The organisation relies heavily on donations and bequests, which have dropped markedly over the past two years.

"A condition like ours, it doesn't have as much appeal as a children's or a guide dogs charity and some charities have a much higher profile, like cancer," Ms Belford told AAP on Thursday.
