Masked SA home invaders had machete, gun

Three masked men were armed with a machete and a hand gun when they forced their way into a home in Adelaide's north.

The men forced their way into the house in Greenwith on Wednesday night after a man answered the front door, police say.

The trio threatened the man and a woman and stole a mobile phone, car keys and a purse.

The man was struck on the arm with an iron bar when he tried to stop the offenders and suffered a minor injury.

Detective senior sergeant Mick Clarke said police believe the incident was a targeted attack.

The intruders were wearing Halloween-style masks and demanded money from the occupants.

Police are investigating whether the attack is linked to another home invasion hours later, on Thursday morning, at Pooraka when a man was tied up with a belt at knife-point.

His Staffordshire bull terrier, named Biscuit, was stolen as well as the man's mobile phone, wallet, keys, and necklace.
