Maritime workers to rally in Adelaide
AAP
Maritime workers will rally in Adelaide to protest over the loss of Australian seafaring jobs carrying fuel cargo around Australia.
The protest on Friday will coincide with the arrival of the BP ship British Liberty, which is carrying fuel to be offloaded at the Largs Bay storage facility, the Maritime Union says.
Branch organiser Campbell Duignan says BP has made redundant all its Australian crews on ships that carry fuel between Australian ports.

"Australian seafarers are highly skilled and subject to strict security clearances and environmental regulations and all pay tax in this country," Mr Duignan said.
"They are now being replaced by low-paid, often-exploited, foreign workers."
