Labor has pledged $28.5 million to upgrade South Australia's TAFE facilities if elected on May 18.

Skills spokesman Doug Cameron says 21,800 South Australians will also benefit from new apprenticeships and TAFE places with no upfront fees.

"A Shorten Labor government will also guarantee at least two-in-three public vocational education dollars go to TAFE, and require one-in-10 jobs on major Commonwealth and defence projects to be an apprenticeship," Senator Cameron said on Wednesday.
