Jobs the big issue for SA budget

Job creation will be a big issue to be addressed in next month's state budget, Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis says.

The treasurer will hand down the state's latest financial blueprint on June 22 and he says boosting employment will be a focus.

"Obviously the burning platform that we're standing on is creating jobs," he said.

"Where are our kids going to get a job? Making sure that South Australians can stay here and work.

"That's the measure that we need to account for."

But Mr Koutsantonis says South Australians also want great services, especially across health and education.

He's refused to rule in or out any tax increases, although the government has already revealed a small cut in the emergency services levy.

The decrease, to be confirmed in the budget, will save the average home owner a modest $3 a year.
