Facebook marketplace buyer stabbed by third party in random attack

A routine Facebook marketplace purchase has taken a dark turn, after the buyer became the victim of a completely random stabbing in Adelaide’s south-east.

Police are still hunting for the attacker, who set upon the victim on a Glenside street.

Andy had been chatting to a man he'd just sold a chair to while out on the side of the road.

But before the buyer could stash his new purchase in the boot of his car, he was stabbed by a third party in a random attack.

"They were just casually speaking outside then, from what I heard, he just step in between them and then [he was] just stabbed two times to the neck," Andy's wife Ruby told 9News.

The terrified men raced inside.

"He kept yelling call the police, call the police there's a crazy person outside," Ruby said.

"And I saw blood just gushing out from his neck, all over his shirt that's when it hit me, something bad has happened."

Andy and Ruby did what they could to treat the stab wounds at the side and back of his neck before police and paramedics arrived.

They say the attacker lingered on the street and stared at their home before running away.

The victim was treated in hospital and is now home but was told he was very lucky it wasn't much worse.

As the victim recovers, Andy is now waiting to return the abandoned chair.

"I just said when you come to pick up your car, just let me know because your chair's still in my garage, I will give it back," Andy said.
