Fire destroys old SA post office

Fire has destroyed an historic South Australian post office.

Fire crews and police were called to the blaze at Callington, in the Adelaide Hills, about 1.30 on Sunday morning.

The vacant Old Callington Post Office was well alight when they arrived and despite the efforts of fire fighters, the building was gutted.

The galvanised iron cottage was formerly known as the Callington Post Office in the early 1900s.

No-one was injured and investigators are yet to determine a cause.
