Charge bikies who gather publicly: SA govt

The South Australian Government will consider laws to stop bikies gathering in public after a Rebels gang-linked shooting in Adelaide.

Attorney-General John Rau told ABC radio legislation to criminalise the public association of bikies could have prevented the weekend shooting linked to the Rebels bikie gang in a shopping centre and motel.

"A group of people who are members of a criminal organisation hanging around together constitutes an offence," he said on Tuesday.

"Whilst nobody can say with absolute certainty what would have happened if the laws had been in place, I can tell you that, as things presently stand, the police had to wait for them to do something."

Three men, who police allege are Rebels members, appeared in court on Monday over the shooting.
