Cabbie attacker's jail term cut

A second man has had his jail term cut for slashing a cabbie's throat and stealing his taxi, while on a 13-day drug and alcohol-fuelled bender with his brother in Adelaide.

Zachary Connor Wakefield, 21, and Jake Thomas Wakefield, 20, were jailed for seven years after pleading guilty to aggravated charges of robbery and recklessly causing harm to driver Suleman Khalid.

The older brother also admitted driving in a manner dangerous to the public when he drove the cab at speeds up to 111km/h before crashing into a store late on April 19, 2013.

The Court of Criminal Appeal on Tuesday reduced Zachary Wakefield's sentence to five years 11 months, with a non-parole period of two years 11 months.

His brother's term has already been cut to the same minimum term.

The appeal court judges accepted that the siblings should have been given a greater discount for their guilty pleas.
