Home destroyed by fire in Adelaide Hills

More than 50 firefighters spent four hours struggling to bring a house fire under control in the Adelaide Hills.

Fire crews were called to the Mount Pleasant home at 2.45pm on Thursday and took more than four hours to extinguished the blaze.

The fire completely destroyed the home, resulting in an estimated damage bill of $300,000.

A Country Fire Services spokesman said the owner of the house was not at home at the time, and has since been located safe and well.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
