Boy pointed laser at police helicopter

A 10-year-old boy who pointed a hand-held laser at a police helicopter has been cautioned by South Australian police.

The helicopter was targeted by the laser while it was flying in the Adelaide metropolitan area on the night of October 28.

Police on Wednesday said they went to a Hove address, where the boy admitted the offence and the laser was seized.

They said pointing lasers at any aircraft can create a dangerous distraction, noting the maximum penalty for prejudicing the safe operation of an aircraft was 14 years jail.
