Adelaide unit block sent into lockdown after armed man barricades himself inside
A block of units in Adelaide's east was sent into lockdown this morning after an armed man barricaded himself inside one of the units.
Police surrounded the Thornton Street complex in Norwood where a 26-year-old armed man had locked himself inside.
Specialist police carrying shields smashed their way into the building and took the man into custody.

"He was in cuffs and he was escorted out by a number of police and the dog was quite vicious behind him," witness Lawrence Hunter said.
"It looked like a siege at one of the units. There was at least 10 police officers. All the driveways were blocked off."
Police said a fight broke out between two men at the complex, where a 62-year-old man was hit over the head with a weapon.
After the altercation police said the man stumbled out onto the street and started walking towards the local swimming centre.
He then ran into two young men who say they noticed blood seeping from his head.
"He has cuts all over his forehead and face and neck," one of the boys, Jordan Browning, said.

The two boys and staff from the pool administered first aid before paramedics eventually arrived.
"He was really calm at the start. He didn't even know he was bleeding. He knew he got whacked on the head but didn't know he was bleeding," the other boy Connor Roe said.
The alleged offender has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious harm.
