Aboriginal inmate dies after SA jail brawl

WHAT HAPPENED?

* A 29-year-old indigenous man died on Monday after allegedly attacking five prison guards at the Yatala Labour Prison on Friday.

* The guards were injured in the incident which took place while the man, from Andrews Farm, was on remand and waiting to appear in court via video link.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

* SA Major Crime Detectives are investigating and a police report will be prepared for the coroner.

* Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement lawyer Chris Charles says the investigation should be overseen by another body such as the Office for Public Integrity.
