South Australian boy killed in crash on Yorke Peninsula

A 13-year-old boy from Aldinga Beach is the seventh person to die on SA roads in just 48 hours, the state's deadliest Christmas period in a decade.

The teenager was killed when the car he was in collided with a camper-van near Port Clinton, on Yorke Peninsula.

Two girls aged six and 11 months were in the back seat and were taken to Ardrossan Hospital with minor injuries.

The female driver was taken by helicopter to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition.

A couple and a seven-year-old girl travelling in the camper-van escaped serious injury.

Today's fatal crash has made it the deadliest Christmas on SA roads since 2005.

"We don't do this on our own, this is a community issue," Assistant Commissioner Linda Williams said.

"The community needs to have a stake in solving these deaths on our roads."

The teenager's death follows a single vehicle crash at Clay Wells overnight which claimed the life of a two-year-old Victorian boy.
