An Adelaide police officer has admitted abusing public office and possessing drugs.

Christopher Graham Bonython, 42, of Henley Beach, appeared in South Australia's District Court on Monday.

He pleaded guilty to improperly using information he gained through being a public officer with the intention of securing a benefit for himself or another person in November 2012 at Henley Beach.
