SA MPs to have blood pressure tested

Life as a politician can be stressful and some South Australian MPs are about to find out what toll that may be taking on their health.

Health Minister Jack Snelling and fellow Labor MPs Annabel Digance and Nat Cook will have their blood pressure tested at a shopping centre in Adelaide's West Lakes on Friday to mark International Nurses and Midwives Day.

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Foundation SA says the event is a fitting tribute to the state's 32,000 nurses and midwives.

Mr Snelling's test comes after he announced on Monday the new $2 billion Royal Adelaide Hospital will finally open on September 5, 18 months behind its original schedule.

Ambulances will begin transporting about 300 patients from the existing hospital to the new facility over three days from September 4.
