Police declared a major crime investigation into the incident the next day.

Today, SA Police arrested the Parafield Gardens man and charged him with manslaughter.

They allege the man inflicted the injuries on the child while the boy was in his care.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
