SA childcare worker guilty of sex offences

The child care worker who sparked a royal commission into sex abuse in South Australia has been convicted of more sex offences against young girls whose toes were softly bitten by him.

Mark Christopher Harvey, 43, was found guilty by a judge last month of four counts of persistent sexual exploitation of a child when he was a director of an after school care program in Adelaide.

Harvey got sexual pleasure from touching the girls on the chest and softly biting their toes, a District Court was told.

The offences, which took place between January 2007 and 2011, included exposing himself and regularly removing the girls' shoes and socks, putting their toes in his mouth and biting them softly.

On Wednesday, suppression orders on the judge's verdicts and other material were lifted after the prosecution said other allegations would not proceed to trial.

In January 2012, Harvey was jailed for six years for having unlawful sexual intercourse with a person under 14 in 2010.

His case sparked a royal commission into the Education Department's handling of school sex abuse cases.

Harvey will face a sentencing hearing on the exploitation convictions on June 20.
