Pig farmer's bashing murderer jailed 48 years

As Lucina Boldi, 67, lay quivering on the floor of her home pretending to be dead, she strained to hear her husband.

Moments earlier Keith Cini, 69, had called out to his wife for help. But by then he was dead, having been bound and bashed with a bat one morning in May 2014.

The man responsible, Ryan David Evans, 29, was sentenced on Friday in the NSW Supreme Court to a maximum 48 years jail, after earlier being found guilty by trial.  

Mr Evans, and a co-offender, had come looking for money on the semi-rural property at Badgery’s Creek, in western Sydney. The pair’s heavy use of ice had caused them financial difficulties.

Mr Cini was a farmer who would deliver pigs to restaurants in his trucks. He would keep the days' cash takings in two safes in his home office, which amounted to thousands of dollars.

Mr Evans once worked for him as a casual delivery driver, and thereby knew how the business operated.

In sentencing, Justice RA Hulme said: “There is no suggestions that the offender is remorseful.”
